Third largest river in US Continental (Rio Grand River)

 Mexico, United States

North America

Running 1,809 miles from its snow fed head

Waters in the Colorado Rockies to the Gulf

Of Mexico, the Rio Grande. Known as the Rio

Bravo in Mexico, is the third longest river in

the continental U.S . But it's also one of

 America's most endangered rivers,

Droughts, more than 30 large dams, and

ever increasing water diversions for

agriculture and cities have left long stretches

of the river dry the recent years.  And in

2001 the river failed to reach the Gulf Of

Mexico for the first time ever.
