The 176 - Km. long Pamba river , also known as' Dakshina Bhageerathi' , originates in Puluchimalai hill in the Peerumedu plateau of the Western Ghats . With a basin of about 2,235 Sq. Kms ., the river enriches Pathanmthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam districts in Kerala by providing irrigation and water for cultivation. Pamba has many places of worship on its banks like At. Mary's Forance Church , Sabimala, Thiruvalla Sreevallabhapuram, Adoor Arnumala temples , etc.
