The second largest tributary river of Ganga and the longest tributary in India, Yamuna originates from the Yamunotri Glacier at a height of 20,955 ft. travels a total length of 1,376 Kms . and merges with Ganga at Triveni Sangam, Prayagraj and hence , does not flow directly into the sea . The river flows through Uttarakhand , Himachal Pradesh , UP, Haryana and Delhi. About 57 million people depend on the Yamuna's waters and the river accounts for nearly 70 percent of Delhi's water supply .The river is one of the National Waterways in Haryana, Delhi and UP. The pride of India , the Taj Mahal, is on the banks of river Yamuna.
