Bankim Chandra chattopadhay was one of the greatest novelists and poets  of  India . He is famous as author of Vandemataram,  the national song of India.

Bankim Chandra Chattopadhay born on 27 Jun 1838 in the village kantalpara on the 24 paragana  District of West Bengal . He belonged family Brahmins. Bankim Chandra's father Yadav Chandra 
was in gover nment service  .Bankim Chandra father posted to Medinipur as Deputy Collector.

Bankim Chandra Chatterjee had his school education in Midnapur. After his school education in Midnapur Bankim chandra Chatterji joined the Mohsin college at  Hoogly  and studied there for 
six years. He was very much interested in the study of Sanskrit. stood him in good stead Later he 
wrote books in Bengali Knowdge of Sanskrit.

In 1856 Bankim Chatterjee  joined the Presidency college in Calcutta is 1857,there was strong revolt
against the rule in East India company but Bankim Chandra Chatterjee  continued  his studies and
passed his B.A examination in 1859. The lieutenant Governor of Calcutta appointed Bankim Chandra
Chatterjee as Deputy Collector in the same year. Bankim Chandra Chatterjee Government service thirty-two years and retired 1891.

Bankim Chandra Chatterjee   was married he was only eleven. that time his wife only five years old.
Bankim Chandra Chatterjee was only twenty two when his wife died.After some time married again.
his second wife was Rajlaksmi Devi.


Bankim Chandra Chatterjee began his literary carrer as a verse.

Bankim Chandra Chatterjee was superb story-teller, and a master of romance.no Bengali writer
before or enjoyed such spontaneous and universal popularity as Chatterjee. He died in April 8,1894.
